Senator Cruz is actually the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives Committees’ Ranking Member positions are occupied by the most senior member of the party in the minority, which has been the Democrats since the 119th Congress was sworn in on 03 January. The Democrats make a big deal out of the Ranking Member position when they are in the minority, but it only entitles them to an additional staffer or two. Full committee chairmanship is the biggest deal, and subcommittee chairmanship can be a big deal, depending upon the occupant and the jurisdiction subject matter.
Senator Cornyn is a Subcommittee Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee’s Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness.

Yeah, I was wondering how Cruz was the ‘ranking member’ of a committee while Republicans are in the majority.
