Before yesterday I had no idea who David Leavitt is. Indeed, when I first came across the following tweets, I naturally assumed it was some sort of parody account:
I just had to call the police because @target Refused to sell me the toothbrush
— David Leavitt (@David_Leavitt) January 17, 2020
The police verified @target displayed the price of toothbrush for $0.01 The store manager Tori refused to sell me the toothbrush for displayed price. The police said I need to sue them and that they are making me a verified report take to court @BBBConnection @AskTarget

I have not been able to afford to go to a dentist in over three years. So yes I wanted a good toothbrush and was thrilled to see such an amazing prize on an @OralB but @target refused to honor it and now I have to take them to court

Surely that’s got to be a parody, right? No being with an IQ above a toaster could possibly think they’re the noble one for trying to badger a retail sales worker into giving them a toothbrush based on obvious error, could they?
Wrong.
No, really. This isn't a parody?
Mr. Blue Checkmark Can't Afford To Go To The Dentist For Three Years isn't a parody?

Yeah. Sad ain't it?

Also, he appears to be a damn liar:
Was @David_Leavitt lying then or is he lying now? #targettori https://t.co/qZUAruh8Sl pic.twitter.com/hSmvdulRMk

For the second time this week (the first was #CNNisgarbage), right Twitter and left Twitter have come together to defend #TargetTori and condemn bluecheck David Leavitt for being a horrible human being:
I have started a GoFundMe to send Tori on a vacation.
Anyone that has to deal with this twerp definitely deserves it. I'll start with a $50 donation.https://t.co/1ntqpiQngY https://t.co/X0bD1vZt5E

Hey @David_Leavitt, do you have any more information on #TargetTori.
I need to get into contact with her about the money we have raised for her.
Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

It’s unbelievably embarrassing to see a Massachusetts journalist call the cops on a woman who wouldn’t sell him a $90 toothbrush for $0.01.
Embarrassing to him, embarrassing to the publications that hire him. Embarrassing to everyone EXCEPT TORI. https://t.co/EBHjKZC40B

RE: #Tori
Holy crap! @CarpeDonktum and @BriannaWu agreeing on something!

All in all, it’s the biggest Internet self-own since a guy named Adam Smith harassed a random Chick-fil-a worker at a drive-thru. That didn’t go well for him, either…
Update: Happy ending:
HUGE UPDATE:
